What is Semaglutide?

Semaglutide, a drug treatment recently approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for chronic weight management, is administered via subcutaneous injection. It mimics the hormone known as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), a substance that affects the areas of the brain that help regulate food intake and appetite.

Who It’s For

Semaglutide is effective and safe across a wide spectrum of patients with obesity who might be prescribed this drug, whether you are younger or older, higher BMI or lower, and regardless of race/ethnicity.

How The Program Works

Weight loss with Semaglutide works best with a regular physical fitness regimen, dietary support, and healthy eating habits. The program begins with an initial consultation to discuss your weight loss goals, and determine if Semaglutide is an appropriate treatment for you.  If you are a candidate we will ship the Semaglutide directly to your home.

How Much Weight You’ll Lose

FDA approval came after a robust series of placebo-controlled trials with thousands of participants of varying ages. In one of the most successful trials, participants had an average initial body weight of 231 pounds and a BMI of 38. People who received Wegovy lost an average of 14.9% of their initial body weight (a loss of about 33 pounds) during the 68-week trial. Those who received a placebo lost only 2.4% of their body weight.

What about side effects?

Patients taking Semaglutide can experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation. However, these are extremely manageable. Your practitioner will recommend a dosage and treatment plan that fits your specific goals and needs. We prefer to start our patients at a lower dose and gradually increase it over a number of weeks to lower the possibility of any side effects.
